We Love Kate Spade
We’ve loved the Kate Spade brand for a long time. But, what we’re loving even more is the announcement of a new line, Kate Spade Saturday, targeting a younger demographic and at a lower price point. We’re excited about the news and looking forward to seeing what this means for the in-store environment. Kate Spade New York stores are known for the brand’s signature storytelling style and colorful brand personality, and we’re hoping “Saturday” will bring the same upbeat energy. Stay tuned; you know we’ll be watching.

Image property of Chute Gerdeman

We kicked off day one of GlobalShop presenting the session, “When Visual Creativity Trumps Budget: What Indie Retailers Can Teach the Big Brands.” The third most attended session at the show was a success! And the audience loved it. Bess Liscio, VP, Visual Strategy; Joanna Felder, VP, Intelligence & Brand Strategy; and Jay Highland, VP, Brand & Marketing shared their insights while incorporating lessons learned from the indie retailer perspective, and presented ways in which major retail chains could incorporate some big ideas. For a quick session recap, check out our Intelligence Report from our most recent issue of The Gist. If you’re interested, sign up for our webinar on March 15 when we’ll represent the session live.

GlobalShop 2012: What happens in Vegas…

With GlobalShop 2012 just days away, the Chute Gerdeman team is looking forward to taking part in our industry’s premier event for store design, visual merchandising and at-retail marketing. We’ll be on the ground in Las Vegas from beginning to end, February 29-March 2—walking the show, meeting with clients, partners and friends, and keeping up on the latest happenings in retail trends and technologies.

If you’re going to GlobalShop, be sure to attend Chute Gerdeman’s session on Wednesday, February 29. The conference session, “When Visual Creativity Trumps Budget: What Indie Retailers Can Teach Big Brands,” begins at 1:30pm. Chute Gerdeman’s VP, Intelligence & Brand Strategy, Joanna Felder, VP, Visual Strategy, Bess Liscio and VP, Brand & Marketing, Jay Highland, will co-present the session. More and more, real retail innovation is showing up around the corner and in the neighborhood at our favorite independent stores. Whether it’s an old-school “Mom & Pop” or a one-off new shop, small, indie retailers are showing the big guys how it’s done, and done well. The CG team will incorporate lessons learned from the retailer perspective, and present ways in which major retail chains could incorporate some big ideas.

In addition to Joanna, Bess and Jay, several other Chute Gerdeman associates will be on hand, including Denny Gerdeman, Elle Chute and George Nauman, in the new Design Inspiration Showcase. If you would like to arrange a meeting, feel free to contact us at cgevents@chutegerdeman.com or just stop by Booth 3044A.

Be sure to check back before, during and after GlobalShop as we’ll be blogging live from the show, with some on-the-fly observations and retail reporting from Sin City. This year, what happens in Vegas will be featured here!

We look forward to hearing from you or catching up at the show.

Loving Las Vegas: GlobalShop 2011

Image property of Chute Gerdeman

With GlobalShop 2011 just days away, the Chute Gerdeman team is looking forward to taking part in our industry’s premier event for store design, visual merchandising and at-retail marketing. We’ll be on the ground in Las Vegas from beginning to end, March 28-30—walking the show, meeting with clients, partners and friends, and keeping up on the latest happenings in retail trends and technologies.

If you’re going to GlobalShop, be sure to attend the conference session, “From Research to Reality: Turning Shopper Insights into Successful Store Design,” on Monday, March 28 at 1:30pm. Chute Gerdeman’s VP, Intelligence & Brand Strategy, Joanna Felder, and VP, Brand & Marketing, Jay Highland, will co-present the session. Leveraging research into actionable strategies is hard enough, but the leap to actual physical brand presentation is one of the most difficult hurdles for a retailer to make. In this session, you will hear some proven techniques on how several major retailers have taken that leap.

Be sure to check back before, during and after GlobalShop as we’ll be blogging live from the show, with some on-the-fly observations and retail reporting from Sin City!

Letter from CAMP

Image property of Chute Gerdeman

We used to think camp was just for kids, but our field trip to Fisher’s Future CAMP proved us wrong. Hosted by The Ohio State University’s Fisher College of Business, CAMP (Columbus Advertising & Marketing Powwow) assembled an all-star panel of professionals from a wide range of companies, all with an eye on the future of marketing in the new economy. A few of the expert minds leading the conversation were John Sass of Scotts Miracle-Gro, Brad Bobenmoyer of Team Detroit, and Chute Gerdeman’s very own Joanna Felder, Director of Creative Strategy, and George Nauman, CMO, among others. The dialogue was energizing and inspiring, and CG was proud to be a part of the event.

Euro is a go, go!

Images property of Chute Gerdeman

With only days to go before EuroShop opens in Düsseldorf, Germany on February 26, the Chute Gerdeman team is busy organizing their lists of the “must sees.” The last exhibition, held in 2008, attracted more than 104,000 visitors from 93 countries. With numbers like that, it’s no surprise that EuroShop is the industry’s largest international trade fair.

Top of our list is a visit to ECOpark, the new sustainable building and furnishings area. We’re also looking forward to MQ Mannequin City, and EuroShop Designer Village, which will showcase the latest retail projects and innovative and distinctive design concepts. Of course, we’ll be touring EuroConcept (fixtures and lighting); EuroCIS (technology); EuroExpo (event construction), and all the 17 other buildings that keep earning this show its reputation as the event-of-the-year.

Stay tuned for daily updates live from the show. Bess Anderson, Director of Visual Strategy and Brian Shafley, President and Chief Creative Director, will be on the ground in Düsseldorf reporting for us. In the meantime, check out this photo gallery of some of our favorites from the 2008 EuroShop EXPO.
